STEP 1+ FROM ZERO TO A1 - INTENSIVE

Course overview and requirements

This course is for students who have never studied Italian and possibly know just a few basic phrases and some very basic vocabulary and would like to progress quickly to the A1 level. This is an intensive Italian course taking you from zero to a complete A1 level in one academic year. You enroll in 10-15 week blocks at a time (Steps 1&2, Steps 3&4, and Steps 5-7) or in the whole 105-hour course. Italian Step 1+ from Zero to A1 requires consistency and at least 1 hour of self-study per week if you want to progress and not fall behind and complete the programme.


Our online Italian lessons are interactive, and Maria is a qualified and experienced teacher, who will help you learn. She has a lot of experience of teaching beginner courses and she will make you communicate in Italian from the first lesson. The lessons take place via Zoom and focus on you and your engagement with the study materials. In every Italian lesson, you will be busy from the beginning to the end – speaking with your partner(s) in the breakout rooms, listening to and reading various texts, enriching your vocabulary through interactive activities, and discovering the rules of Italian grammar. The teacher will be sharing their screen, so it will feel like being in a normal classroom with a whiteboard – but you will not have to leave the comfort of your home! 


To make sure this course is an enjoyable and enriching experience, you'll need: a reliable internet connection; a computer or a tablet (smartphone screens are too small); a working webcam, microphone, and ear/headphones; a quiet place where no one will disturb you.

You might have also never studied Italian formally but know some basic phrases, vocabulary and grammar - perhaps from your couple of visits to Italy. If you’re unsure if this course is for you or if you should start with Step 1 or higher, please take our quick Italian language placement test.
